The Razer Deathadder V2 x HyperSpeed ​​Wireless Gaming Mouse incorporates the latest developments from the company, and we’ll see how it works in practice.

The gaming device comes in a small box in corporate colors. In addition to the mouse, the kit comes with one AA battery, user manual and stickers with the Razer logo. The letter of wishes from the company was combined with the user manual.

The general appearance of the mouse body is ergonomic, the shape is almost symmetrical, the surface is non-slip. The presence of navigation buttons on the left side virtually eliminates the comfortable use of the manipulator with the left hand.

The entire upper part of the gaming mouse is removable and can be replaced with a variant with color pictures over the entire surface and bright patterns , however, such “custom” panels are not available in Russia.

This way of personalization seems interesting, because the mouse is not equipped with a backlight traditional for gaming devices. 

To remove the top panel and, accordingly, access to the battery installation socket (EP), a small depression is provided, for which you can catch a fingernail or something flat and thin.

Note that there are two slots for installing batteries. The top slot is for AA batteries and the bottom slot is for AAA batteries.

The removable panel is fixed with five small magnets located around the perimeter, and precise placement is ensured by pin guides.

Compared to, for example, the Razer DeathAdder V2 Mini Mouse , the design of the new mouse has undergone several important changes. The button for changing the sensor resolution has been split into two and moved to the upper left corner of the left mouse button. Thus, instead of changing resolution profiles around, you can change it up or down the list, although ideally it is better not to touch any sensor settings at all during the game. An exception is the function of the “sniper” button for deliberately temporarily lowering the resolution for more accurate aiming at the target during firing.

As a result, the space behind the scroll wheel is now empty. In general, the body of the mouse is designed for a comfortable grip with the entire palm of the right hand. When you try to change the grip to the “claw” in the hand, an uncomfortable tension is felt.

On the left side of the manipulator there are two glossy navigation buttons that are comfortable to operate with the thumb of the right hand. The buttons are clearly distinguishable from each other by touch and do not require much effort when pressed.

On the bottom of the device, already traditional for Razer peripherals, there are white PTFE plates: two small ones in the upper part, one thin around the sensor window and one long in the form of an arc at the bottom.

To the left of the sensor window is a three-position device connection mode switch. There is a choice of Bluetooth or a 2.4 GHz radio channel. The middle position turns off the device.

Let’s look inside the manipulator.

The contact surface of the scroll wheel is embossed in the form of horizontal stripes with pyramidal protrusions. 

This photo shows the block of switches for changing the profile and the switch under the left mouse button. It’s not hard to spot the Kailh markings. The black switches are not provided with any noticeable manufacturer’s markings.

The red switches for the side navigation buttons are manufactured by Chang Feng (CF). Similar switches are used in the Razer Viper Ultimate mouse .

The optical sensor PixArt PAW3319DB-T2MU with a remote prism and an infrared light source is used. A similar sensor is used in the Razer Pro Click Mini mouse .

The image below clearly shows the Nordic Semiconductor microcontroller labeled N52840, which supports the latest Bluetooth 5.3 interface. This single-chip system is responsible for wireless connection via 2.4 GHz radio channel and Bluetooth. The controller is based on a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4, and a separate ARM CryptoCell CC310 module is responsible for data encryption, there is support for Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth mesh, NFC, Thread and Zigbee. It is clear that the controller is focused on smart home systems and its capabilities for a gaming mouse are redundant.

Razer Proprietary Software

If you have not previously installed Razer Synapse or Cortex proprietary software, then due to the current geopolitical situation, when you try to install, the application cannot connect to the manufacturer’s servers and download other files. Use VPN to bypass blocking. After installation, you can adjust the sensor resolution, port polling rate, etc. We described the functionality of applications in more detail in one of the previous articles . 


We used a special test stand   to evaluate the actual delay of the transmitted signal of the device itself. We tested the Razer Deathadder V2 x HyperSpeed ​​polling rate, but the results surprised us – the difference in latency between 125 Hz and 1000 Hz remains within the margin of error. Here is a summary from Alexey Kudryavtsev, expert and test bench developer:

“At 1000Hz, the minimum latency was 6.2ms, the maximum was 8.6ms; at 125 Hz 6.4 ms minimum, 11 ms maximum; average value 7.3 ms.” 

The results suggest two possible conclusions as to why the delay value hardly changes when the port polling rate changes. Firstly, the function of changing the device polling frequency in this mouse simply does not work, and secondly, Razer engineers have well optimized the wireless connection technology over the radio channel, so that the frequency difference has almost no effect on the device delay.

We also tested the mouse in the following games: osu!, Hunt: Showdown, CS:GO, The Cycle Frontier, Elden Ring, Path of Exile, Starcarft 2, Dota 2. 

Comparing with the previously tested Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed ​​manipulator , we note that the hero of today’s review combines all the good solutions and brings something new. 

Placing the buttons for changing the resolution of the sensor on the edge of the left mouse button allows you to quickly make changes, but there is some chance that one of the buttons can be accidentally pressed during the game, which can lead to losing the battle. However, the actions of the buttons can be disabled through a proprietary application.  

As an option, the buttons for changing the resolution of the sensor can be visited by the actions of zooming in and out, which turned out to be very convenient when working in CAD / CAM applications.  

The shape and size of the mouse is such that the palm grip is the most comfortable. The device can be used effectively throughout the day.

The top panel can be easily removed for easy cleaning.

You can install batteries of different sizes in the mouse, or even both options at once, and thereby adjust the weight of the device within certain limits. The official website provides a calculator of operating time with different types of batteries .     


The Razer Deathadder V2 x HyperSpeed ​​gaming mouse is a comfortable wireless mouse with good battery life, a precise sensor and an ergonomic shape. Hyperspeed technology, which implements the connection of the device via a radio channel, does not limit the user in any way in real games. 

The use of batteries as batteries allows you to slightly reduce the cost of the device in retail. Of course, you can use AA or AAA batteries, but you will have to charge them separately, removing them from the mouse.  

By the way, this gaming mouse does not have a backlight, and its retail price is quite comparable to competing products.
