Fan recreates Need For Speed ​​Underground 2 in Unreal Engine 4

Modder I van Novozhilov shared, on his YouTube channel, an impressive recreation of Need For Speed ​​Underground 2 in Unreal Engine 4. The project, which consists of a complete revitalization of the PlayStation 2 classic, shows how the main aspects of a possible port for the new generation. 

Novozhilov’s work has included polishing all graphical features, and lighting details, shadows, reflections and resolution come out in an enhanced form, with optimized map information on screen. In addition, it is possible to perceive a considerable improvement in the audio system, where every movement of the car and change in the lane becomes clear.

The highlights are the changes in the vehicle, which resembles the latest game models. For this, the mod had a deep application of textures and more responsive driving behavior, allowing real-time recognition of nitro activation, transmission adjustments, and physics during collisions and sudden turns.
