The software company Akvis, founded in 2004, develops software for image optimization and many image effects, providing it in the form of individual specialized programs and plug-ins and regularly updated in small steps. Akvis has just updated its AI-based noise reduction software «Noise Buster AI» and released version 12 for Mac and Windows.
Akvis Noise Buster AI removes color and brightness artifacts in digital photos, grain in scanned photos, and JPEG artifacts in over-compressed images without affecting the sharpness or other quality characteristics of the images.
The software uses artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies from the new version, with version 12.0 coming with a brand new, more efficient processing algorithm.
Version 12.0 also features a redesigned user interface and expanded support for raw photo files from new cameras. In addition, the compatibility and stability of the software has been improved.
The software offers three modes: “Low noise”, “High noise” and “High compression with noise”. Depending on the selected mode, the program uses the appropriate neural network. To manually adjust the result created by the AI, there are post-processing settings. The new version, based on the most advanced artificial intelligence technologies, copes with various types of defects and improves grainy photos.
The software supports batch processing so users can apply the same settings to a folder full of photos, saving a lot of time.
Click on the image to see it larger. This makes it easier to see the effect of noise reduction. (However, 1. these example images from Akvis Noise Buster have a low resolution and 2 it is unclear whether the AI-assisted noise reduction was already used here.)
As always, you should use the free test software to get a personal impression, especially since this is a news article and not a test article.
